PROPOSAL FOR 2020
Ten years ago, the IFCA Youth Coordination presented this initiative by inviting young people and all the CAs of the world to commit themselves to supporting and promoting the Good Friday Collection which is one of the three universal collections of the Church together with the Obolo di San Pietro and the World Mission day.

In 2010 we published a booklet with some information on the Good Friday Collection and on the Christians in Holy Land with some indications for promoting the collection in the dioceses and parishes where CA is present, in particular on page 22-24.

These are information and indications that we have gradually updated >>>

HERE IS THE PROPOSAL FOR 2020
JERUSALEM AT THE HEART OF OUR FAITH

The Holy Land and especially the Christian community that lives there has always occupied an important place in the heart of the universal Church which – as St. Paul recalls – when it expresses its solidarity with Jerusalem, including through economic support, performs an act of restitution. Indeed, the whole Church has received from Jerusalem the gift and joy of the Gospel and of salvation in Christ Jesus “who, though he was rich, made himself poor for you, so that you could become rich through his poverty” (2 Cor 8:9). It is awareness of the gift received that still motivates us to give with joy and generosity ”

From the letter of Cardinal Sandri Appeal for the Collection of Christians in Holy Land, 04.03.2020 with the 2018-19 reports on the Collection and how it is used – in various languages.

We invite to participate in the promotion of the Collect at the diocesan and parish level, in collaboration – where possible – with the Franciscan friars who work in the various countries as Commissaries of the Holy Land: the list of COMMISSARIATES in the world

Each national CA is invited to propose the initiative to diocesan CAs
Date:
Good Friday 2020 or another day to be launched on Good Friday

2020 theme: “Jerusalem at the heart of our faith – the responsibility of all Christians for Jerusalem and the Holy Land”.

IN GENERAL the collection is a good opportunity to deel the information about the Christian community in the Holy Land and Middle East.

FOCUS on the topic
Jerusalem, even before being the city of Jesus the Redeemer, was the historical place of the biblical revelation of God, the point where more than anywhere else the dialogue between God and men is intertwined, almost the meeting point between earth and heaven. Christians look to it with religious and jealous affection, because many times the word of Christ has sounded, there the great events of redemption, that is, the passion, death and resurrection of the Lord happened. In Jerusalem the first Christian community was born and there has been a continuous ecclesial presence over the centuries, even in the midst of difficulties. (…) On this Good Friday in which we solemnly remember the Savior’s passion and death, I would like to invite all of you, venerable brothers in the episcopate, all priests, consecrated persons, the faithful from all over the world to put among the special intentions of your prayers the invocation in favor of a right solution of the problem of Jerusalem and Holy Land, and for the return of peace in the Middle East.

Letter Redemptionis Anno – Good Friday 20 April 1983 ” on the City of Jerusalem, the sacred patrimony of all believers and the crossroads of peace for the peoples of the Middle East ”

IFCA continues to promote a friendship with the Holy Land: in 2019 WE ARE ONE
