A culture of care as a path to peace
Message of His Holiness Pope Francis for the Celebration of the 54th World Day of Peace,
1 January 2021
•wishes by Rafael Corso, IFCA Secretariat’s Coordinator
Dear brothers and sisters,
We arrive at a new Christmas, new and different, we arrive wrapped up in the atmosphere of a difficult time.
Humbly and conscious of the pain of the hour we are going through, I want to call you to the serene joy of Christian hope, hope founded on the historical certainty of the God who became incarnate for our healing and salvation. He who today continues to ask permission for the freedom of every woman and man to enter into their hearts and make them bear fruit with the joy of a full life. Friends, as Mary did, today let us give our Yes! Merry Christmas!
We are reflecting together with Cardinal Eduardo Pironio in his “Meditation for Difficult Times”: … “The evangelical fullness of difficult times is marked by the presence of Mary ” of her was born Jesus who is called Christ ” (Mt 1:16). When difficult times broke into history because of man’s sin, Holy Mary was prophetically announced (Gen 3:15) as a participant in man’s salvation. When the “full of grace” (Lk 1:28) said Yes, the difficult times became times of salvation. They remained difficult- more marked by the cross than before: ” this child is destined to be a sign that is opposed and and a sword wil pierce your soul too ” (Lk 2:33-34), but not impossible. for nothing is impossible to God ” (Lk 1:37).
After the Symposium in February, jointly promoted by IFCA and the Foundation “Catholic Action school of Sanctity Pio XI”, we extend our best wishes to all of you and together we propose to support this initiative to build the construction of Dar al Majus (House of the three Wise men) Community Home in Bethlehem in the Holy Land.
