4 February International Day of Human Fraternity
We would like to highlight this day, in which FIAC is participating, inviting countries to promote and share initiatives to celebrate it.
We all remember the signing of the document on human fraternity in Abu Dhabi on 4 February 2019 by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad al-Tayyib, and how the encyclical Fratelli tutti brings together and develops the major themes set out in that document.
The contribution of religions and interreligious dialogue is fundamental to building a more humane, fraternal and peaceful world together.
The final document of the Synod (26 October 2024) recalls this commitment that we undertake as Catholic Action of the world in the synodal Church.
Through this collaboration, we aim to build together, as sisters and brothers all, in a spirit of mutual activity and aid (cf. GS 40), justice, solidarity, peace and interreligious dialogue. In some regions, people meet in small neighbourhood communities irrespective of their religious belonging. These communities offer a favourable environment for a threefold dialogue: of life, of action and of prayer. (123)
Pope Leo recently stated that every human being and every religion is called to promote brotherhood… we need authentic witnesses of human kindness and charity who remind us that we are all brothers and sisters. Words are not enough.
In fact, “Our love and our deepest convictions need to be continually cultivated, and we do so through our concrete actions” (Dilexit te, 119)
