The Timeless Travels project, organised by the Malta Catholic Action, brought together a group of 17 participants, aged between 18 and 81, for a unique experience of 4 days in Assisi, Spello and Rome during March 2026. This journey was not simply a cultural visit, but an opportunity for formation, reflection, and personal and spiritual growth.
Participants, coming from both the Youth Section of the Malta Catholic Action (ŻAK) and the Adult Section, had the opportunity to discover more about the roots of Catholic Action, while encountering the life stories of key figures such as Blessed Armida Barelli, Venerable Antonietta Meo (Nennolina) and Carlo Carretto. Participants also visited the Italian Catholic Action’s National Centre to learn more about how the organisation is coordinated on a national level.
Testimonies from participants highlight the strong impact of this experience. Many emphasised the sense of unity between different generations, where young people and adults shared moments of listening, reflection, and mutual support. This atmosphere of communion helped build new and deeper relationships, breaking down age barriers. Another key aspect was the value of sacrifice and suffering as paths to personal growth. Participants reflected on how challenges and difficulties can lead to greater maturity, empathy, and a deeper sense of purpose in life.
Powerful spiritual moments, including Mass at the Vatican and a stay in San Girolamo, Spello, helped many strengthen their faith and discern the direction to which God is calling them. One participant spoke of the peace and joy found in moments of silence and prayer. The project also highlighted the importance of community life in the journey of faith. Participants noted that personal stories gain fuller meaning when shared with others and when rooted in relationships of love and service.
Timeless Travels was a journey that not only brought generations together but also strengthened faith, community, and commitment to living out Christian values in everyday life. Participants are now committed to sharing this experience with others and building upon what they have lived during these days.
Malta Catholic Action is grateful to the Italian Catholic Action for their support and hospitality.
The project is funded through the Komunitajiet Aktar Inklussivi Scheme 2025 financed by the Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector.
