From 24 to 26 February 2026, a theological-pastoral congress on the event of Guadalupe was held in Mexico, entitled ‘Our Lady of Guadalupe, the event and its teachings for the processes of evangelisation’.
The Congress was organised by the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, the Pontifical International Marian Academy, the Mexican Episcopal Conference and the Knights of Columbus.
Brenda Karina Garcia Pacheco, National President of the Mexican Catholic Women’s Youth, participated in the Congress, representing FIAC and, in particular, FIAC America.
Below is the text of her speech (original in Spanish)
Members of the International Forum of Catholic Action. Present.
The undersigned, Brenda Karina Garcia Pacheco, National President of the Mexican Catholic Women’s Youth, sends you my warmest regards and would like to take a moment of your time to share the following reflection on the Pastoral Theological Congress on the Guadalupe event, for which I would like to express that:
To speak of the inculturation of the Gospel and, more specifically, of the way in which God, through Our Lady of Guadalupe, wanted to bless his people; of how he did not want to enter suddenly, but rather, little by little, made himself present in our own history; reflecting on each of the panels and the whole experience of sharing with pastoral agents from different parts of Mexico and the world, allowed me to see the inculturation of the Gospel incarnate, how each of us, from our vocations, apostolates, missions and charisms, incarnate inculturation as a process that requires purification, so that the Gospel remains intact in its truth, is recognised and discerned, bringing the seeds of the incarnate Word to our cultures.
Thus, in the Morenita, we find the purest and most concrete way in which God wanted to make himself present and draw close to his people, to the least among us, emphasising Jesus Christ’s sending of his disciples as messengers, bearers of a message, bearers of the new.
As a young person who belongs to this great family of Catholic Action, it was a great opportunity to rediscover and share the experiences of all the participants, to see how we can improve our processes of evangelisation, in which we can find new ways to transmit the message of the Gospel in its entirety. Without further comment at this time, I am grateful for the opportunity to attend this Congress.
Sincerely, Brenda Karina Garcia Paccheco National President JCFM
