WE WANT PEACE
an urgency, a right, a necessity.
Towards an “unarmed and disarming” peace.
We renew our invitation to take part in and promote ‘One Minute for Peace 2026’ (2014–2025) in our local communities, let us involve as many people as possible at every level, in all the places where we live, by sharing this invitation with associations, church organisations, ecumenical groups, interfaith groups, cultural organisations, civil society groups, and so on.
Becoming artisans of peace is a commitment for everyone and towards everyone: Caring for peace is caring for life! (Pope Leo XIV, Regina Coeli, 17 May 2026)

On Sunday 7 June, the PAX ET BONUM 2026 International Conference will be held in Rome, in conjunction with the ‘One Minute for Peace’ initiative.
The event is organised by the Giuseppe Toniolo Institute and Italian Catholic Action, in collaboration with the International Forum of Catholic Action, on the theme ‘In the spirit of St Francis: International law and fraternity’.
The conference will conclude with a moment of prayer in the Vatican Gardens, in front of the Olive Tree of Peace planted on 8 June 2014 by Pope Francis, Shimon Peres, Mahmoud Abbas and Bartholomew I, with the reading of the invocation for peace that was written on that occasion, which remains highly relevant today.
The conference will be streamed via Zoom for participants requiring simultaneous interpretation into English, Spanish and French. Registration is required by 30 May to confirm the interpreters’ assignment.
